Who we are
Hawthorne Energy Ltd ("we", "us") arranges commercial solar installations for UK businesses. For the purposes of UK data protection law we are the data controller for the information described below.

What we collect
When you complete the assessment form on this website, we collect:
- Your name and the company you represent
- Your email address and phone number
- The address of the site you want assessed
- Whether you own or lease that site
- An approximate band for your annual electricity spend
If you send us a copy of an energy bill, that will also contain information about your business and its energy consumption. We only ask for this where it is needed to produce your assessment.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
We use this information to prepare a desktop assessment of your site, to contact you about it, and to introduce you to a funding and installation provider if you want to proceed. Our lawful basis is your consent, given when you submit the form, and our legitimate interest in responding to a business enquiry you have made.
Who we share it with
Hawthorne Energy arranges solar installations rather than carrying them out directly. That means we pass your enquiry to a solar funding and installation provider so they can assess your site and, if you go ahead, deliver the project. They will act as a data controller in their own right and will handle your information under their own privacy policy. We will tell you who that provider is before your details are passed on.
We also use these service providers, who process data on our behalf:
- Cloudflare hosts this website and provides security and basic, privacy-focused traffic analytics.
- FormSubmit delivers the contents of the enquiry form to us by email.
- Google Fonts serves the typefaces used on this site, which means Google receives your IP address when the page loads.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for third-party marketing.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry details for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you come back to us, and no longer than [retention period, e.g. 24 months] from your last contact with us, unless you ask us to delete it sooner or we are required to keep it for legal or accounting reasons.
Cookies and analytics
This site does not use advertising or tracking cookies and does not profile visitors. Cloudflare sets essential cookies needed for security and to keep the site running, and collects aggregated performance data about page loads. No cookie banner is shown because no non-essential cookies are set.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy of it
- Have inaccurate information corrected
- Ask us to delete your information
- Object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it
- Withdraw consent at any time, which will not affect anything done before you withdrew it
- Ask us to transfer your information to another provider
